Prince’s “3121 Las Vegas Live” Arrives for Record Store Day Black Friday
A complete, two-hour-plus concert from the Rio residency, recorded January 20, 2007, gets its first official release on crystal blue vinyl and CD.
Prince’s 3121 Las Vegas Live has been officially announced for release on November 27, 2026, as a Record Store Day Black Friday exclusive. The posthumous live album captures a complete concert from the Las Vegas residency he held at the Rio Hotel & Casino. It was recorded in the early hours of January 20, 2007, and it is the first official release of that recording. Both formats carry the same 21 tracks and run over two hours.
The Formats
- Three-LP set: A limited edition on Crystal Blue Curaçao vinyl in a gatefold sleeve, limited to 9,400 copies.
- Two-CD edition: The same 21 tracks, limited to 2,700 copies.
The album is issued by The Prince Estate through NPG Records and Legacy Recordings, with artwork designed by Sam Jennings. It follows an announcement in October, when Prince’s official social media account promoted the release on October 7.
The Residency
Prince released 3121 in March 2006 and began his Per4ming Live 3121 residency at the Rio in November 2006. The engagement ran until April 2007, with shows built on a changing mix of his own songs, covers, and long jams with his band. This recording comes from about two weeks before his halftime performance at Super Bowl XLI on February 4, 2007.
What’s in the Set
Five songs from 3121 are in the show: the title track, “Satisfied,” “Lolita,” “Black Sweat,” and “Get On The Boat.” The set also draws on earlier material, including “Girls & Boys,” “Purple Rain,” “Kiss,” “Shhh,” “If I Was Your Girlfriend,” “Pink Cashmere,” “Cream,” and “U Got The Look.”
The covers show the range of the residency. Prince plays “Pass The Peas” by The J.B.’s, “Love Changes” by Mother’s Finest, “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley, and “Play That Funky Music” by Wild Cherry. He also performs the gospel standard “Down By The Riverside” and Aretha Franklin’s “I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You).” A medley pairs a short introduction based on “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” with Katie Melua’s “Nine Million Bicycles.” “Musicology” folds in “Prince And The Band,” a 2002 recording that was released posthumously in 2026.
