The 50th anniversary box set, released October 30, 2026, digs into Pete Townshend’s demos and the studio sessions, and closes with the most complete release yet of the band’s June 1976 show at Vetch Field.

The Who’s 50th anniversary edition of The Who By Numbers officially came out on October 30, 2026. The Super Deluxe box set includes 92 unreleased tracks and mixes. The live material is concentrated on the final disc, while the other discs dig into unreleased studio archive material.

Disc 5: Live at Vetch Field, Swansea (June 12, 1976)

The main live attraction is the most complete release to date of the band’s June 12, 1976 performance at Vetch Field in Swansea, Wales. The concert was part of the “Who Put the Boot In” tour. Reports describe it as notable as one of Keith Moon’s last major stadium performances in front of a British audience.

The full set on Disc 5 is:

  • My Wife
  • Baba O’Riley
  • Squeeze Box
  • Behind Blue Eyes
  • Dreaming From The Waist
  • Amazing Journey
  • Sparks
  • The Acid Queen
  • Fiddle About
  • Pinball Wizard
  • I’m Free
  • Tommy’s Holiday Camp
  • We’re Not Gonna Take It / See Me, Feel Me
  • Summertime Blues
  • My Generation / Join Together / My Generation Blues
  • Won’t Get Fooled Again

The setlist shows a band at the center of its live career. It mixes hits like “Baba O’Riley,” “Behind Blue Eyes,” and “Won’t Get Fooled Again” with a long Tommy section and 1975 material such as “Squeeze Box” and “Dreaming From The Waist,” and it ends on a finale of “Join Together” and “My Generation” jamming.

Discs 1–4: Studio and Archive Material

The remaining discs focus on the studio recording sessions and Pete Townshend’s personal archive.

  • Pete Townshend demos: Eleven acoustic and electronic solo demos that Townshend recorded before bringing the songs to the band, including eight that have not been released before.
  • Tracking sessions: Outtakes and raw tracking sessions from Ramport and Shepperton Studios, with studio dialogue between Townshend and Keith Moon and a jam with pianist Nicky Hopkins.
  • Early mixes and stripped audio: Alternate vocal passes from Roger Daltrey, John Entwistle, and Townshend, plus newly made acoustic “stripped” mixes of songs including “Imagine A Man” and “Success Story.”
