    Deep Purple is a British rock band formed in Hertford, Hertfordshire in 1968. They are considered one of the pioneers of heavy metal and hard rock music, along with bands like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.Deep Purple is perhaps best known for their iconic song "Smoke on the Water," which features one of the most recognizable guitar riffs in rock history. Their early albums, including "Deep Purple in Rock" and "Machine Head," are regarded as classics of the hard rock genre.The band underwent several lineup changes over the years, but their most famous lineup, known as the "Mark II" lineup, featured Ian Gillan on vocals, Ritchie Blackmore on guitar, Jon Lord on keyboards, Roger Glover on bass, and Ian Paice on drums.In addition to "Smoke on the Water," Deep Purple had numerous other hits, including "Highway Star," "Space Truckin'," and "Hush." Their music often featured intricate guitar and keyboard solos, powerful vocals, and driving rhythms.Deep Purple's influence on rock music is vast, and they are considered one of the most important and influential bands of the genre.
