Nearly seven years after production began in 2018, Becoming Led Zeppelin is finally set to hit cinemas in May. A Portuguese film industry website recently revealed a probable release date of May 16 for the highly anticipated documentary.
This news coincides with the unveiling of a new trailer for the film, which has begun screening before showings of Venom: The Last Dance in the U.S. on October 24. While the trailer does not provide an exact release date, it indicates that the film will be available in 2025, including in IMAX theaters. We anticipate that the trailer will be released online within the next two weeks.
Additionally, Sony Pictures Classics, the film’s U.S. distributor, introduced a fresh logo that hints at a focus on the 1960s, using a “groovy” font to reflect that era.
With the release date on the horizon, fans can look forward to promotional events leading up to the premiere. It is expected that Jimmy Page will attend in-person events and engage with the media to promote the film.
As for Robert Plant and John Paul Jones, their participation in the film’s promotion remains uncertain. Documents obtained by LedZepNews last year indicated plans for all three surviving members of Led Zeppelin to support the film during its 2021 festival premiere; however, only Page attended. Plant and Jones have largely distanced themselves from Becoming Led Zeppelin, with their last promotional involvement occurring in 2019 when they provided statements for the film’s announcement. Given that Plant will be touring in Scandinavia around the film’s expected release, it seems unlikely he will appear at any premieres.
