Through a mutual friend, Randy Dulude and Lonnie Howell came together as a duo when Randy moved to Colorado in August 2018. They were both interested in music, with Randy, in particular, having gone to the Berklee College of Music in the late 1990s. Lonnie says that the two instantly clicked when they started playing together, but they both had their own lives and families to juggle. Since joining together, they’ve prioritized playing a couple of gigs a year, allowing their personal lives and their desire for music to intertwine.
The acoustic duo takes from many inspirations, playing covers of artists ranging from Phish to The Grateful Dead and styles of music ranging from reggae to blues to jazz to bluegrass. While they’ve tossed around the idea of playing a select few original songs at some point, they prioritize covering songs that their audience will hopefully enjoy hearing as much as they do and that will allow the audience to get up and move.
The duo likes performances to sound spontaneous, and the last thing they want is to perform the same songs in the same exact way every single show. They love the fun that their music brings, and they love the variety and flavor that the mountain music scene brings in general. They want the audiences that see them to have an enjoyable experience, lose themselves in the music, and maybe even come back to see them when they perform again.
