Beacon Theatre brings the stars to the Upper West

Zach Williams is one of the stars of the Contemporary Christian Music world, but he says his music is kind of a melting pot of a bunch of different genres. Williams grew up listening to a little bit of everything.

“I would say definitely though it’s CCM with kind of an edge leaning toward Rock and Country,” he said.

Williams is a Grammy winning artist who won two years ago for this duet with the legendary Dolly Parton.

The singer and songwriter is bringing his “A Hundred Highways” tour to the Beacon Theatre on Sunday. 

“I think deep down in all of us we’ve got a little country in us. It feels good to be able to come to the big cities and play and do these shows we are really looking forward to it. It’s going to be a fun night,” he said.

Williams will take the stage a t the landmark Upper West Side venue run by Madison Square Garden Entertainment.

Over the years, many greats have graced the stage from John Mellencamp to Tom Jones, Carlos Santana to David Bromberg, and on the comedy side, Jerry Seinfeld.

The Beacon Theatre opened in 1929 as a movie palace. It now features the Sphere Immersive Sound system, billed as the world’s most advanced concert audio system. 

Trey Anastasio of Phish broke it in during his performances there last year.

For Zach Williams, this is his first time headlining the Beacon, after playing as an opening act a few years back.

“You are standing in history, and you are standing on a stage where all the other greats have been. You kind of feel like you are the shoulders of giants,” he said, who noted he doesn’t take this for granted.

“Every time he gets to step on the stage of a venue like the Beacon, it’s an honor,” he said.
