Phish’s Mike Gordon Joins Boston’s Club d’Elf in Vermont

Last Friday, Boston’s beloved improvisional experimental ensemble, Club d’Elf, brought their tour, celebrating their 25th anniversary to Zenbarn in Waterbury Park, Va. During the middle of their eclectic and skillful display they welcomed Vermont’s own Mike Gordon, bassist of Phish, for a track towards the middle of their performance.

Along with founder and leader of Club d’Elf Mike “Micro” Rivard, who dished out impressive grooves on bass, the evening welcomed percussionist Dean Johnston, Paul Schultheis on keys and Randy Roos on guitar. They revivered musicians moved through two songs lush with provision and onstage chemistry before Gordon joined on “Power Plant a Club d’Elf favorite.

For the song, Micro, a lover of world music switched from bass to a sintir, a bass lute from Morocoo while Gordon took over on bass for his own flavorful inclinations.
